CommuteAir Celebrates New Corporate Headquarters in Westlake, Ohio
Cleveland, Ohio may have lost its United Airlines hub ten years ago, but the city remains the home base for one of United’s key regional partners, CommuteAir. Founded in 1989 in upstate New York, CommuteAir relocated its headquarters to North Olmsted fifteen years ago and has since established itself as a major player in the airline industry.
New Corporate Headquarters
On Tuesday, CommuteAir celebrated the grand opening of its new corporate headquarters in Westlake. The 30,000 square foot space includes office and operational space and is located across the street from Crocker Park. CommuteAir CEO Rick Hoefling announced at the ribbon-cutting ceremony that the company has renewed its contract with United and will continue to operate under the United Express banner until at least 2028.
Future Growth and Expansion
In a conversation following the event, Hoefling revealed that the company is considering adding regularly scheduled air service under its own name. This may include new routes from Cleveland Hopkins International Airport, providing better air travel options for passengers in smaller and medium-sized cities. Hoefling believes that there is room in the market for a small carrier to offer premium service between smaller airports, stating that “people deserve to be treated nicely.”
Partnership with United
CommuteAir currently operates several hundred flights per day for United, primarily to and from the carrier’s hubs at Houston Bush and Washington Dulles international
