JSX Plans for Significant Fleet Growth in 2026 and 2027

JSX, a public charter operator, has plans to increase its fleet by more than 20% this year. The company’s President, David Drabinsky, stated in an interview with AirlineGeeks that they expect to end 2026 with 64 aircraft, up from 53 at the beginning of the year. This growth will continue into 2027 with a similar pace of fleet expansion. However, this increase in aircraft count is not the only change that JSX is making to its fleet.

Distinct Fleet Types for Different Routes

JSX is beginning to divide its network between two distinct fleet types, with the goal of using ATR turboprops on shorter routes and shifting their Embraer E135 and E145 jets to longer routes. The company’s first ATR 42 is currently operating out of Santa Monica, California, and Drabinsky expressed satisfaction with the passenger reception. As more ATRs arrive, JSX intends to deploy them beyond Southern California.

ATRs Provide More Opportunities for Growth

The company has an agreement in place for up to 25 ATR aircraft and currently has three in its fleet. These turboprops are essential to JSX’s next phase of growth, as they can reach airports that their Embraer jets cannot. This includes shorter runways and high-elevation airports, giving JSX more flexibility and opening access to a wealth of additional airports that do not currently have scheduled air service. The ATR also has lower operating costs and burns less fuel on shorter flights, allowing JSX to potentially offer lower fares in some markets.

Expansion to the East Coast and Midwest

JSX’s fleet expansion will support a broader geographic push, with a focus on the East Coast and the Midwest. The company currently has a limited presence on the East Coast and does not serve any cities in the Midwest. Drabinsky stated that there is a lot of opportunity for growth in these regions, with a particular focus on major cities on the East Coast. The Midwest is also of interest to JSX, as there is a high demand for their unique service in this region.

Long-Term Goal: To be Present in Every Major U. S.

JSX’s ultimate goal is to establish a presence in every major U. S. city while continuing to operate from airports that are primarily used by private aircraft. Drabinsky stated, “We have desires to be in every major city across the U. S. ” However, this growth will depend on the availability of aircraft and identifying airports that fit their operating model. For now, JSX is preparing to add 11 aircraft in one year, quadruple their ATR fleet, and lay the groundwork for expansion into new regions.

Conclusion

JSX’s plans for significant fleet growth in 2026 and 2027 include increasing their fleet by more than 20% and dividing their network between two distinct fleet types.
