Iberia Announces Two New Transatlantic Services for 2026

Under its strategic Flight Plan 2030, Iberia is continuing to expand its long-haul network by announcing two new transatlantic services for 2026. These new routes will provide more options for travelers and strengthen the airline’s presence in North America.

Daily Flight to Newark Liberty International Airport

Starting on March 29, 2026, Iberia will offer a daily flight to Newark Liberty International Airport. This new service will complement the airline’s two existing daily flights to John F. Kennedy International Airport, providing passengers with a total of three daily options to New York. The flight schedule is designed to provide convenient access to Manhattan and enhance connectivity for both leisure and corporate travelers.

During the 2026 summer season, Iberia plans to offer over 350,000 seats between Madrid and New York, which is a 42% increase compared to 2025. The new flights will be operated by the Airbus A321XLR, the most efficient aircraft in Iberia’s long-haul fleet.

New Route to Toronto Pearson International Airport

On June 13, 2026, Iberia will also launch a five-time-weekly service between Madrid and Toronto Pearson International Airport. This route, which will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, will provide a total of 37,000 seats during the summer season. The new service demonstrates Iberia’s commitment to the Americas and complements recent route launches to Orlando, Recife, Fortaleza, and Monterrey.

The A321XLR: Driving Efficient Transatlantic Growth

Both the Toronto and Newark routes will be operated using the Airbus A321XLR, a model for which Iberia was the launch airline. This aircraft offers up to 40% fuel savings compared to wide-body aircraft and features the new Airspace cabin, LED lighting, and a two-class configuration with Business and Economy. Iberia celebrated the first anniversary of the A321XLR in November 2025, a year after its inaugural long-haul flight to Boston.

Flight Plan 2030: Investing in Long-Haul Connectivity

These new services are part of Iberia’s Flight Plan 2030, a €6 billion plan that aims to expand the long-haul fleet from 48 to 70 aircraft, modernize the customer experience, digitalize services, and strengthen connectivity between Europe and the Americas. The plan also includes new routes to Orlando, Recife, Fortaleza, and Monterrey, demonstrating Iberia’s leadership in transatlantic travel and ACMI innovation.

With these expansions, Iberia now serves ten destinations in the United States and is strengthening its presence in North America.
