Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport (BLR Airport) has once again proven its excellence in perishable exports this Valentine’s season, successfully shipping over 60 million rose stems weighing 2,700 tonnes to 26 international and 47 domestic destinations. With a remarkable 38% increase in stem volumes and a whopping 64% rise in tonnage, BLR Airport has solidified its position as the top gateway for perishable cargo in India for the fifth consecutive year.

In terms of international shipments, a total of 305 tonnes of roses were transported, with Singapore being the most popular overseas destination, followed by Kuala Lumpur, Abu Dhabi, New York, and Kuwait. This season also saw the addition of new destinations such as Los Angeles, London Gatwick, Dallas Fort Worth, Toronto, and Orlando.

On the domestic front, BLR Airport transported 2,402 tonnes of roses, marking an impressive 79% surge in tonnage. The demand was primarily led by Delhi and Kolkata, with Kolkata, Mumbai, Chandigarh, and Lucknow recording a significant growth of over 150% compared to last season.

BLR Airport’s state-of-the-art cold chain infrastructure, equipped with real-time tracking and advanced temperature management, played a crucial role in ensuring the freshness and timely delivery of the perishable cargo. These investments have further strengthened the airport’s position as a vital hub for high-value shipments, especially during peak demand periods.

The success of BLR Airport in handling perishable exports can also be attributed to its strategic location in the heart of India’s flower-growing region, making it a preferred choice for exporters. The airport’s constant efforts to improve its facilities and services have also played a significant role in establishing its dominance in the perishable cargo market.

This Valentine’s season, BLR Airport has once again proven its ability to handle high volumes of perishable cargo with efficiency and precision. With its robust infrastructure and continuous efforts to enhance its services, BLR Airport is set to maintain its position as the top choice for perishable exports in India for years to come.
