Lufthansa Introduces New Cabin Concept for Long-Haul Flights

In the summer of 2024, Lufthansa unveiled their completely redesigned cabin concept, Allegris, for long-haul flights. This new cabin has been in operation for over a year and a half, flying from Munich in the Airbus A350-900, and since October 2025, also from Frankfurt in brand-new Boeing 787-9 aircraft.

After reaching important milestones in the certification process in recent weeks, Allegris Business Class in the Boeing 787-9 has been approved, with the exception of three seats in the second row. As of today, 25 out of 28 Business Class seats are available for booking for travel starting April 15.

Travelers have the option to select special Allegris seats in Business Class when booking. Classic Seats can be reserved for free and offer all the benefits of the new travel class. Passengers can also opt for seats with additional comfort, such as the Business Class Suite, Extra Space Seat with extra legroom, Privacy Seat by the window, and Extra Long Bed with a 2. 20-meter lying surface, for an additional charge.

Starting with the summer flight schedule, the Boeing 787-9 with Allegris will fly from Frankfurt to destinations such as Austin, Rio de Janeiro, Bogotá, Cape Town, Shanghai, Hyderabad, and Hong Kong. New York JFK and Los Angeles will be added in June, followed by Delhi in July.

Jens Ritter, Chief Executive Officer of Lufthansa Airlines, expressed his excitement about the popularity of Allegris among passengers, with over one million travelers experiencing the new cabin since its launch in 2024. He also announced that more passengers can now enjoy this top-of-the-range product with the majority of Business Class seats on the Boeing 787-9 now approved. Ritter stated, “Allegris is an experience in all classes, and the approval of the majority of seats in Business Class on the Boeing 787-9 is an important milestone for Lufthansa – and above all, great news for our customers!

Since October 9, 2025, Allegris has been available on the Boeing 787-9 from Frankfurt. Lufthansa has already received eight brand-new aircraft, with 21 more Dreamliners on order. Their plan is to have a total of 29 Boeing 787-9s in operation by the end of 2027.

In other airline news, Air Canada has disclosed an order for eight Airbus A350-1000s. This addition to their fleet will enhance their long-haul routes and provide a more comfortable experience for passengers. Additionally, an immersive theater called “SoraCruise” will soon open at the OSAKAKO Vertiport, offering a unique and exciting experience for travelers.
