Dubai Tourism Sees Increase in Visitors and Occupancy Rates

Dubai, known for its luxurious lifestyle and impressive skyline, continues to attract millions of international visitors each year. In 2025, the city welcomed 19. 59 million overnight visitors, marking a 5% increase from the previous year. This growth can also be seen in the city’s hotel room inventory and occupancy rates.

Record-breaking numbers

According to data published by the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET), December 2025 saw more than two million visitors, the first time the city reached this milestone in one calendar month. This impressive growth is attributed to the city’s commitment to developing its integrated tourism ecosystem.

Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, stated that the tourism sector is a key driver of economic diversification and sustainable growth in line with the goals of the Dubai Economic Agenda D33. This agenda, launched in January 2023, aims to double the size of Dubai’s economy to Dh32 trillion by 2033, and make it one of the world’s top three cities for tourism, trade, and investment.

Diverse source markets

The DET’s “diversified year-round market strategy” has contributed to the city’s success, with more than 3,000 international partners showcasing Dubai to new and returning visitors from both traditional and emerging markets. In 2025, the Gulf and the Mena region had a combined 26% share of overall visitors, with Western Europe as the largest source market, followed by the Commonwealth of Independent States and Eastern Europe, and South Asia.

According to Issam Kazim, chief executive of the Dubai Department for Tourism and Commerce Marketing, the city is attracting top talent through progressive visa policies and positioning itself as the destination of choice for entrepreneurs, remote workers, and families. This, along with investments in capacity and infrastructure development, has made Dubai the world’s best city to visit, live, and work in.

Rising room inventory and occupancy rates

At the end of 2025, Dubai’s hotel inventory reached 154,264 rooms across 827 establishments, surpassing cities such as Bangkok, New York, Paris, and Singapore. The average occupancy rate also increased to 80. 7%, with the average length of stay at 3. 7 nights. Additionally, the city saw an annual increase of 8% in the average daily rate, while revenue per available room increased by 11%.

Future developments

Dubai International Airport retained its position as the world’s busiest airport for international passengers in 2025, with a total traffic of 70. 1 million in the first nine months. Looking ahead, the city has plans to expand the Al Maktoum International Airport and construct the Dubai Metro Blue Line to accommodate the growing population and tourism numbers.
