United Airlines to Resume Flights to Tel Aviv in July 2025
United Airlines has announced that it will resume flights to Tel Aviv Ben Gurion Airport (TLV) on July 21, 2025. This makes United the first US carrier to return to Israel since the October 7, 2023, Hamas-led attacks. The flights will resume 10 days earlier than expected, following the recent easing of tensions in the Middle East.

United Airlines had halted its flights to Israel on July 12, 2025, as tensions escalated between Israeli and Iranian forces. This led to a two-week period of intense missile attacks and flight cancellations across the Middle East. Nearby airports in Dubai, Doha, Istanbul, and Amman were also affected, with several countries closing their airspace.
Initially, United had announced that flights to Tel Aviv would be paused until July 31, 2025. However, due to improved conditions, the airline has now decided to resume flights earlier, on July 21. The flights will operate twice daily from Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) using the Boeing 787-10 aircraft. Flight UA84 will depart Newark at 15:30 and arrive in Tel Aviv at 08:55 local time, while UA90 will depart at 22:50 and arrive at 16:20.

In a statement, United Airlines reiterated its commitment to serving Tel Aviv. The airline has flown to Tel Aviv more than any other US carrier in 2025. Before resuming flights, United conducts a thorough assessment of operational considerations in the region and consults with the unions representing its flight attendants and pilots.

United Airlines had previously resumed flights to Israel on March 15, 2025, after a nine-month suspension. However, the airline had to suspend flights again in early May due to a missile attack by Yemen’s Houthi rebels at Ben Gurion Airport. Flights from Newark resumed on June 5, only to be suspended again on June 12, highlighting the instability in the region.
Delta Air Lines, which operates flights to Tel Aviv from New York-JFK, resumed its service on April 1 after pausing in July 2024. However, the airline has also faced multiple suspensions, with its latest update stating that flights will remain suspended until August 31. Meanwhile, American Airlines, which has not operated flights to Israel since October 2023, has not announced any plans to return to the country.
El Al and Arkia are currently the only carriers offering flights between the US and Israel.
