Ethiopian Airlines Expands Inflight Entertainment Options Through Partnership with PressReader

Ethiopian Airlines has announced a new partnership with PressReader to enhance the customer experience by providing complimentary access to thousands of publications. This partnership will allow passengers to access PressReader’s catalogue of over 7,000 newspapers and magazines from more than 120 countries in over 60 languages.

Passengers will be able to enjoy this service both in Ethiopian Airlines lounges at Addis Ababa and onboard their flights. In the near future, the PressReader catalogue will also be integrated into the Ethiopian Airlines mobile app, providing a seamless reading experience. This content will be available up to 24 hours before departure, through check-in emails, and 24 hours after arrival.

According to Gibrab Tilahun, Director In-Flight Service at Ethiopian Airlines Group, this partnership is a reflection of the company’s commitment to providing a customer-centric experience. “We continuously expand our inflight entertainment options to cater to our passengers’ needs,” said Tilahun. “We are delighted to partner with PressReader to offer our passengers a catalogue of publications that they can enjoy before, during, and after their flights.

Ethiopian Airlines is the latest addition to PressReader’s roster of airline partners, which includes other major carriers such as Singapore Airlines, Qatar Airways, and Turkish Airlines. “We are thrilled to partner with Ethiopian Airlines, expanding PressReader’s presence in the aviation industry to Africa’s largest aviation group and strengthening our global footprint,” said Hugo Merino Montero, Senior Director of Travel and Leisure at PressReader. “We are honored to deliver our cutting-edge technology, premium content, and sustainable solutions to support Ethiopian Airlines in achieving their vision to become the most competitive and leading aviation group in Africa by providing customer-focused passenger transport.

Passengers can expect to hear more about this partnership at FTE Global, the “CES of Aviation,” which will take place in Long Beach, California from September 9-11, 2025. Mesfin Tasew, Group Chief Executive Officer of Ethiopian Airlines, will be participating in the APEX Thought Leadership Conference, where he will share insights into the airline’s growth across Africa and beyond following their recent global expansion and digital transformation.

Overall, this partnership between Ethiopian Airlines and PressReader is a significant step in improving the inflight experience for passengers. With access to a wide range of publications in multiple languages, passengers can stay informed and entertained during their journey.
