An aide to New York City’s mayor Zohran Mamdani has been called out for his entitled behavior towards airline staff in a series of social media rants. Mathis Roy Vigne, who handles publicity and events for the mayor, used his X profile to berate workers from various airlines. The complaints ranged from ranting about business class seats and lounge access to not being served a drink.

Vigne’s behavior was brought to light by the Washington Free Beacon, which reported that he previously interned for Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. In one complaint from December 2019, Vigne expressed his frustration at American Airlines for denying him lounge access after flying business class to Paris. He also complained about being downgraded to economy on an Air France flight in April 2020 and publicly criticized SWISS for their beverage service in September of the same year.

Vigne’s social media posts also show a pattern of complaining about cleanliness and Covid-19 safety measures. In December 2020, he criticized Aer Lingus for only running one flight a day to Paris, despite the airline explaining that it was due to Covid restrictions. He also called out Qatar Airways for allowing a passenger to board without a mask and complained about SWISS’s boarding process.

According to his social media, Vigne graduated from Columbia University in 2024 and has worked on various Democratic campaigns, including Mamdani’s race for mayor and Kamala Harris’s run for president. He has been pictured with his new boss and Ocasio-Cortez, with whom he interned for three months in 2025.

The Daily Mail reached out to Vigne, the mayor’s office, and the airlines mentioned in his complaints, but received no response. Vigne’s behavior has been met with criticism and has sparked a conversation about entitlement and respect towards service industry workers.
