American Airlines Revives Miami to Sarasota Route
According to Airline Geeks, which referred to historical scheduling data from Cirium, an aviation analytics company, American Airlines last flew between Miami and Sarasota in January 2009. The new flights represent a significant move towards expanding American Airlines’ domestic connectivity in Florida.
“American Airlines is pleased to connect Sarasota with our Miami hub. Miami is our gateway to Latin America and the Caribbean, and with this service, customers will be able to connect to more than 60 destinations in the region to explore vibrant Puerto Rico, relax on the beaches of Aruba, or taste coffee in Colombia, and much more.
American Airlines to Operate Regional Jets on the Route
Previously, American Airlines operated the Miami to Sarasota route with a regional aircraft. This time, the airline has chosen to use the popular Brazilian regional jet, the 76-seat Embraer E175. These flights will be operated by American Eagle’s regional partner, Envoy Air. The aircraft’s 76 seats are divided into 12 in domestic first class and 64 in economy class. Out of these, 20 seats are designated as Main Cabin Extra, providing more space with 34 inches of seat pitch compared to the standard 30 inches in economy.
