Air India, a full-cost carrier based in India, is planning to reopen its Maharaja Lounge at the Indira Gandhi International Airport’s Terminal 3 (T3) for international passengers in New Delhi. This is part of the airline’s renewed lounge network, which includes locations in Bengaluru, Delhi, New York, and San Francisco.
According to Air India CEO Campbell Wilson, the airline’s efforts have been recognized by customers, as evidenced by its Net Promoter Score reaching an all-time high of 37 in September 2025. The Net Promoter Score is a survey of approximately 200,000 passengers on their experience with Air India.
Although Air India did not provide a specific date for the reopening of the Delhi Maharaja Lounge, it is expected to take place sometime in December 2025, according to ANI. In addition, a new domestic lounge will also be available at Delhi’s Terminal 3 in the second half of 2026.
Wilson also announced that 2026 will see significant improvements in customer experience as Air India completes major upgrades across its fleet and starts introducing new wide-body aircraft. The airline will receive six widebody aircraft in 2026, a combination of Boeing B787-9 and Airbus A350-1000, in addition to its refurbished B787-8 aircraft, which will join the fleet next year. The first line-fit B787-9 aircraft is expected to be delivered by the end of 2025, with two to three wide-body aircraft being updated each month. By the end of 2026, around 67% of Air India’s B787 fleet will have the new interiors, with the entire fleet being upgraded by mid-2027.
Furthermore, Air India is also working on upgrading its service with a new food and beverage menu across its network. The rollout has already begun on international flights, with the domestic menu expected to be upgraded by January 2026. These updates are part of the airline’s efforts to enhance the overall flying experience for its customers.
