American Airlines Announces New Athens-Dallas Route for Summer 2026

In the summer of 2026, American Airlines will be launching a new route from Athens to Dallas, with flights beginning on May 21, 2026.

This new service will operate out of Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) and will become American’s fifth direct connection from Athens. With this addition, American Airlines will offer the most nonstop routes between Greece and the United States compared to any other carrier.

American Airlines has already seen success with their new route between Athens (ATH) and Charlotte (CLT) this year, and it will return again next year along with existing services to Chicago (ORD), New York (JFK), and Philadelphia (PHL).

According to José A. Freig, Vice President of International and Inflight Dining Operations, there has been an increasing demand for flights to cities with rich cultural heritage. He believes that customers are now seeking more unique and immersive experiences when traveling, and this new route will allow them to do just that.

This new route will also provide passengers in Athens with access to American’s largest hub in the United States, Dallas/Fort Worth, which offers connections to over 225 destinations across the U. S. and beyond.

The flight schedule for this new route will be as follows (flight times may change due to Daylight Saving Time, all times are local):

Flight Schedule: Athens – Dallas / DFW

“The addition of this new summer connection between Athens and Dallas/Fort Worth, American’s largest hub in the U. S. , is an excellent development for Athens’ connectivity with the American market,” said Ioanna Papadopoulou, Director of Communications & Marketing at Athens International Airport.

Papadopoulou also expressed her gratitude for American Airlines’ confidence in the Athens market and wished them success for their new route. She also reaffirmed Athens International Airport’s commitment to a strong partnership with American Airlines.

In addition to the new Athens-Dallas route, American Airlines will also be launching a new connection to Prague, Czech Republic (PRG) and adding new routes to popular destinations such as Budapest (BUD), Milan (MXP), and Zurich (ZRH).

In the summer of 2026, American Airlines will serve a record 11 European destinations directly from DFW.

Tickets for these new summer routes will go on sale starting August 11, providing travelers with even more options for their European vacations.

As a leading airline, American Airlines operates thousands of daily flights to over 350 destinations across more than 60 countries. They are also a founding member of the oneworld alliance, which serves over 900 destinations worldwide. With their constant expansion and commitment to providing top-tier service, American Airlines continues to be a popular choice for travelers around the globe.
