Asiana Airlines, a South Korean carrier, has announced an extension of its Airbus A380 flight schedule between Seoul Incheon International Airport (ICN) and Sydney Kingsford International Airport (SYD), Australia. This decision, revealed by aviation analytics company Cirium, will see the A380 continue to operate on this route for an additional two months, instead of the previously planned three.
Flight Schedule and Fleet Information
Cirium’s schedule filings had initially indicated that Asiana Airlines would operate the A380 flights to Sydney from October through December 31, 2025. However, this extension is not uncommon, as the airline typically deploys the A380 on this route until February. As per Cirium data, Asiana will operate daily flights to Sydney using its highest-capacity aircraft. The airline currently has six A380s in its fleet, with an average age of 10.2 years. These aircraft have a three-class cabin layout, accommodating a total of 495 passengers: 12 in first class, 66 in business class, and 417 in economy class. In the future, Asiana Airlines, in combination with Korean Air, will have a total of 13 A380s.
Between May and October 2025, Asiana will use its Boeing 777-200LR widebody aircraft, capable of seating up to 300 passengers in a two-class cabin configuration. From March 2026, the airline will replace the A380 with its relatively new Airbus A350-900 widebodies on this route. At present, Asiana operates 15 A350-900s with an average age of 5.9 years and is awaiting delivery of 15 more, according to ch-aviation. These widebodies have a three-class cabin layout, accommodating up to 311 passengers: 28 in business class, 36 in economy plus, and 247 in economy class.

However, these operations are subject to change based on seasonal demand, maintenance schedules, and strategic considerations. Additionally, Asiana recently announced an increase in its flights to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), with two daily flights from Seoul during the upcoming winter season. The A380 will replace the A350-900 on this route, providing an additional 184 seats per flight and increasing capacity in
