Avelo Airlines Announces Four New Nonstop Routes from Wilmington International Airport

Avelo Airlines has announced the addition of four new nonstop routes from Wilmington International Airport (ILM). These new destinations are Houston, Washington D. C. , Detroit, and Long Island, New York. The flights will operate twice weekly on varying days and will begin in June. One-way fares for these new routes will start at an affordable $29.

In a news release on Wednesday, Avelo founder and CEO Andrew Levy stated, “We continue to inspire travel by growing our service in Wilmington with the start of these four new routes, offering our customers even more choices. ” He also added, “As the only airline currently offering nonstop service to these destinations from ILM, we are making it more convenient and affordable for our Wilmington-area customers to enjoy 15 popular vacation destinations, while making it easier for out-of-state visitors to experience the best of Coastal North Carolina.

The new routes will run twice per week, with service to Houston beginning on June 11 on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Flights to Detroit and Long Island will begin on June 12, running on Thursdays and Sundays. Finally, flights to Washington, D. C. will begin on June 13, running on Mondays and Fridays.

These routes will utilize a Boeing Next-Generation 737 aircraft, and affordable one-way fares through Avelo will start at $29.

Avelo Airlines has been providing flights out of ILM since 2022 and recently opened a base in Wilmington on April 3. This marks the company’s eighth base and the first airline carrier to have a base at ILM. The expansion is expected to create up to 50 new jobs.
