Athens International Airport and Norse Atlantic Airways recently held a joint Press Conference to announce the launch of a new route between Athens and Los Angeles. This nonstop service, set to begin on June 3rd, will be the first of its kind and will provide direct connectivity to the U.S. West Coast.

CEO of Norse Atlantic Airways, Mr. Bjørn Tore Larsen, stated during the press conference that the decision to open this new route was due to the growing demand in the market and the opportunity to expand into new long-haul segments. He emphasized the airline’s goal of making travel accessible and affordable for everyone, making Athens an ideal destination for their network.

Mrs. Ioanna Papadopoulou, Director of Communications and Marketing for Athens International Airport, expressed her excitement for the new route, stating that it will be a significant day for the airport and the city. She also highlighted the potential for success with the large Greek-American community in California.

In addition to the Athens-Los Angeles route, Norse Atlantic Airways has also added an extra weekly frequency to its Athens-New York route, now operating six days a week. The season for this route has also been extended by two and a half months, running from April 15th to November 30th. When asked about the possibility of operating year-round, Mr. Larsen stated that it will depend on demand and profitability, but the season is gradually getting longer.
