United Airlines to Resume Nonstop Flights to Tel Aviv from Chicago and Washington D. C.
United Airlines has announced that it will be resuming its nonstop flights to Tel Aviv from Chicago O’Hare and Washington Dulles airports in early November 2025. These routes were suspended in 2023 due to regional instability, but the airline has made the decision to reinstate them after careful evaluation.
Flight Details
The flights from Chicago to Tel Aviv will operate four times per week, starting on November 1, while the flights from Washington D. C. will run three times per week, starting on November 2. With this move, United will once again be the only airline offering nonstop service between Tel Aviv and both Chicago and Washington D. C. Currently, United operates twice-daily service to Tel Aviv from Newark/New York and has flown more to Israel in 2025 than any other U. S. carrier.
Strategic Decision
The resumption of these flights is part of United’s broader international network strategy, which takes into account factors such as safety, operational viability, and demand. The decision to bring back these routes reflects the airline’s commitment to Tel Aviv and its confidence in the region’s stability.
According to Patrick Quayle, United’s senior vice president of Global Network Planning and Alliances, “The resumption of these flights underscores United’s longstanding commitment to Tel Aviv.
Increased Connectivity
With the addition of these flights, United will offer direct Tel Aviv service from three major U. S. airports, solidifying its position as the U. S. airline with the most flights to Israel. The airline closely monitors the situation in the region and maintains a flexible approach in accordance with its risk assessment protocols.
Economic and Travel Ties
Tel Aviv is an important international destination for both business and leisure travelers, and the resumption of service from Chicago and Washington is expected to strengthen bilateral travel and economic ties between the U. S. and Israel. This also reflects strong demand and competitive positioning for United in the transatlantic market.
Aircraft and Flight Frequency
Both reinstated routes will use widebody aircraft specifically designed for long-haul international service. Flight frequencies have been scheduled to align with peak travel periods, and may be subject to further adjustments based on demand and regional conditions. Passengers can now book these flights through United’s website and reservation systems.
Continued Growth
United’s international route map is constantly evolving in response to geopolitical developments and customer demand, and the airline remains a leading transatlantic carrier. The return of the Tel Aviv routes from Chicago and Washington is a significant milestone in its recovery efforts for the Middle East market post-2023.
