United Airlines to Add Third Flight Between Tel Aviv and New York in 2026
In a recent announcement, United Airlines revealed its plans to add a third flight between Tel Aviv and New York, starting in March 2026. This addition will bring the total number of daily flights to New York to four during the summer season. The decision is part of United Airlines’ strategy to expand their transatlantic routes and offer more international destinations than any other U. S. airline.
In addition to the new flight, United Airlines is also set to resume its direct flights from Israel to Washington D. C. and Chicago next month. Marcel Fuchs, United Airlines’ managing director of international sales, stated that the third frequency between Tel Aviv and New York will provide customers with more options. He also mentioned that next summer, United Airlines will offer up to four nonstop flights per day from Tel Aviv to the United States, with easy connections to over 100 destinations across the Americas.
The new Tel Aviv – New York flight will operate four times a week, using a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner. This expansion comes after several airline companies canceled their flights to Israel due to security concerns following a terror attack by Hamas in October 2023. However, with the recent ceasefires with Hezbollah, Iran, and Hamas, international airlines are starting to resume their flights to Israel.
In August, Scandinavian airline SAS announced its return to Israel after a decade-long hiatus, with direct flights between Copenhagen and Tel Aviv. This move is expected to boost air traffic between Scandinavia and Israel, with a flight time of four hours compared to six to eight hours with connecting flights. SAS also offers a variety of direct and connecting flights across Europe and beyond.
Air Canada is also scheduled to resume flights between Tel Aviv and Toronto this month, while British Airways and Spanish Iberia Express will resume their direct flights from London and Madrid to Tel Aviv in October. Lufthansa, the largest German airline, had already resumed its flights to Israel in August, with the Lufthansa Group expecting to return to a full flight program in October. Other international airlines that resumed their flights to Israel at the end of the summer include KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, low-cost airline Wizz Air, and Transavia.
Sky Express is also reportedly preparing to launch daily flights from Athens, Greece, to Tel Aviv in December. With the increasing number of international airlines resuming their flights to Israel, the country’s tourism industry is expected to see a significant boost in the coming years.
