Global Airlines: The New British Airline Taking Flight

Global Airlines, founded by self-made millionaire James Asquith, is set to make its maiden flight from Glasgow Airport in Scotland to New York’s JFK. This new airline promises to bring back the “Golden Age” of travel and provide premium service on the world’s largest passenger plane, the A380.

However, before its inaugural flight, the airline faced some challenges. Initially, their return economy fares were priced at £778, which was 95% more expensive than British Airways’ comparable fare of £399. Due to sluggish sales, these prices were eventually reduced by more than half.

What is Global Airlines all about?

Global Airlines is the brainchild of James Asquith, the youngest person to travel to all 196 countries at the age of 24. Asquith, who is also the CEO and founder of Airbnb rival, Holiday Swap, had dreamed of starting his own airline since he was a child, having grown up with pilot parents.

In a time where airlines charge extra fees for basic services, Asquith promises to bring back the glamour of flying. He envisions Global Airlines as a modern version of the “Golden Age” of air travel.

The airline initially offered 12ft long “suites” for first-class passengers, with the potential for a double bed. They even created a “Gamer class” with Xbox and Playstations for a unique flying experience. However, these plans have since been dropped
