Neos, a private Italian airline, is making history by offering direct flights between the US and Puglia. This will be the first time that travelers can fly non-stop between these two destinations.
Starting on Tuesday, June 3rd, Neos will offer weekly flights between New York JFK and Bari Karol Wojtyla Airport. The flights will run until Wednesday, October 15th. Departing from JFK at 5pm on Tuesdays, the flight will arrive in Puglia’s capital at 7. 40am the next day. The return trip will leave Bari at 11. 35am on Wednesdays and arrive in New York at 2. 50pm.
Passengers will have the option to fly on a 335-seater Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, which offers both premium and economy class seating.
According to Puglia’s Tourism Minister Gianfranco Lopane, these new flights will help boost the region’s international reputation. He stated that “this route not only makes it easier for American travelers, who are increasingly drawn to Puglia’s beauty, culture, and traditions, to visit but also strengthens our ability to engage with a strategic market like the United States”.
Neos CEO Carlo Stradotti is also pleased with the launch of this new route, noting the high level of interest from Americans in traveling to Italy. He added that “interest in [US-Italy] routes and ticket sales have exceeded expectations [. ] and we haven’t needed to use any promotions”.
The New York-Bari route is just one of three seasonal connections between the US and Italy that will be launched this week. American Airlines will also be offering daily direct flights from Miami to Rome Fiumicino and Dallas-Fort Worth to Venice Marco Polo starting on Thursday, June 5th.
