American Airlines operates three lounges at New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) in partnership with British Airways. These lounges are named after neighborhoods in London and New York City and primarily serve passengers flying business class on oneworld alliance carriers.

Location

The Greenwich Lounge, occupying approximately 27,000 square feet, is located near gate 12 in Terminal 8, where most oneworld carriers operate. Visitors can access the lounge by taking the elevator up one level after passing through the TSA checkpoints and taking a short walk.

Access Options

The lounge is accessible to American Airlines AAdvantage Platinum and Alaska Airlines MVP Gold members on qualifying same-day international flights. Additionally, passengers flying in American Flagship Business on qualifying international and transcontinental routes, as well as oneworld Sapphire elite members, can also enter the lounge.

The Lounge

Upon entering the lounge, visitors will find check-in desks where agents screen credentials. The lounge itself features a spacious hall with a variety of seating options, including high, low, and regular chairs covered in faux leather in shades of scarlet, navy, taupe, and gray. The design is reminiscent of Delta Sky Clubs before their renovations. However, unique decorative details, such as vertical acrylic strips adorned with tree branch patterns, chandeliers made from circular strips, and walls with metallic trims, give the lounge a distinct look and feel.

The lounge also boasts a stunning view of the Manhattan skyline through floor-to-ceiling windows facing west. The comfortable chaise lounges lining the windows provide the perfect spot to relax and enjoy the sunset over the city.

Food and Beverage

The lounge offers a buffet island with a variety of food options for different diets, including meat and vegetarian choices. However, the food is average in both taste and presentation. The beverage station features a selection of beer, self-service liquor and spirits, coffee, and tea. Wine enthusiasts can enjoy a selection of red, white, rosé, and sparkling wines.

Amenities

The lounge offers shower suites upon request and restrooms stocked with soap and hand lotion. There are also alcove seats with power outlets for guests to use their devices and a printer for printing documents. The lounge also features Mac desktop computers as workstations for those who need to use a computer.

Verdict

Overall, the Greenwich Lounge at JFK offers ample seating, attractive interiors, and essential amenities. The staff is diligent and competent, but the lounge could improve its food options to better compete with other carriers at one of the largest airports in the U. S.
