Dubai Launches World’s First AI-Powered Passenger Corridor at Dubai International Airport
Dubai International Airport (DXB) has taken a major leap forward in smart travel with the launch of the world’s first artificial intelligence (AI)-powered passenger corridor. The innovative system allows travellers to bypass traditional passport control entirely, drastically reducing waiting times and eliminating queues.
The AI-powered corridor, which can process up to ten passengers simultaneously, was recently showcased in a video clip shared by Arabic daily Alkhaleej. In the video, travellers can be seen walking along a red-carpeted walkway, effortlessly moving through the corridor without presenting their passports or boarding passes.
According to Lieutenant General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, Director General of the General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai, the corridor is a “quantum leap” in airport operations. Al Marri also highlighted that DXB, the world’s busiest airport for international flights for the eleventh consecutive year, is more than just a transit hub. It is a vibrant gateway and a showcase of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), where millions of journeys begin and continue across continents.
The AI-powered corridor automatically recognizes passenger data before they even arrive at immigration points. This allows for a seamless process, with any irregularities in travel documents being immediately flagged for review by experts. This not only ensures security but also increases efficiency. By doubling processing capacity, the system facilitates what authorities describe as “boundless travel.
Passengers have praised the innovation for transforming their airport experience. Syrian traveller Mohammed Amer, in an interview with Alkhaleej, described the process as “easy and unique. ” Canadian traveller Mahmoud Balu also commended Dubai’s corridor for surpassing similar systems at leading international airports such as London Heathrow and New York JFK in both speed and convenience.
Ali Abdullah Al Shirawi, Chairman of the Lounge Group and member of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry, praised the efficiency of the AI-powered corridor, stating that it can process ten passengers in under 14 seconds without passports or boarding passes. This is a feat unmatched by other leading international airports.
The launch of the AI-powered passenger corridor is just one of the many advancements that have helped DXB maintain its status as the world’s busiest airport for international flights. It is a testament to Dubai’s commitment to providing a seamless and efficient travel experience for all passengers passing through the airport. As technology continues to advance, we can expect to see more innovative solutions like this being implemented in airports around the world.
