US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is looking for vendors who can provide face recognition technology for capturing data on all individuals entering the US in vehicles, not just those sitting in the front seat. This information was revealed in a request for information made by CBP this week. Additionally, the agency plans to expand its real-time face recognition capabilities at the border to also detect people exiting the US. This expansion may be linked to the Trump administration’s efforts to encourage undocumented individuals to “self-deport” and leave the country.

This news comes after a recent CBP memo was uncovered, which rescinded several internal policies that aimed to protect vulnerable individuals, including pregnant women, infants, the elderly, and those with serious medical conditions, while in the agency’s custody. These policies were put in place during the Biden administration, but have since been eliminated by acting commissioner Pete Flores.

It was also discovered that some CBP agents may have been using the app, leading CBP to disable it as a precautionary measure.

In a separate investigation, it was found that US Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard had been using a weak password
