Global Airlines has officially launched its first commercial flight across the Atlantic Ocean from Glasgow Airport (GLA) to New York, USA. The airline’s Airbus A380, registered as 9H-GLOBL, departed at 11:34 local time and is scheduled to arrive at New York John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) at 13:00 local time. This inaugural flight marks the first of two trips to New York for the airline this month.

First Commercial Flights

The A380, operated by Hi Fly, a Portuguese aircraft, crew, maintenance, and insurance (ACMI) operator, is registered under their Maltese subsidiary’s air operator’s certificate (AOC). The aircraft can accommodate up to 95 passengers and is equipped with both business and economy class seating. Before the departure, Global Airlines held a giveaway for two round-trip tickets from Glasgow to New York-JFK, generating excitement for their first commercial flight.

Return Flight

The return flight to Glasgow is scheduled for May 19, with additional return flights from Manchester Airport (MAN) to New York-JFK on May 21 and May 25. Global Airlines has been promoting discounted fares for these flights, with business class tickets priced at £1999 ($2,659) and economy class tickets at £380 ($505).

Prior Passenger Flights

Before the inaugural flight to New York-JFK, the A380 operated several passenger flights in Europe, including landings at Barcelona El Prat
