Federal Aviation Administration Investigates Near Collision at LAX

A Frontier Airlines Airbus A321 was taxiing at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) when it was forced to suddenly stop due to two trucks pulling in front of it. The incident, which occurred at 11:25 p. m. local time on Wednesday night, is currently under investigation by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

According to the pilot, who reported the incident over radio communication with the ground controller, the two trucks “cut them off” and the plane had to slam on its brakes to avoid a collision. The audio was captured by LiveATC. net and has since been released.

The close call happened on a taxiway near an “ATC non-visibility area” where air traffic controllers are unable to see the planes due to a building obstructing their view. While air traffic control communicates with pilots in this area, drivers are not included in the communication and are required to give way to aircraft.

The pilot stated, “It happened so fast both of us were just like ‘holy s**t’ and we slammed on the brakes. ” The incident was so close that the pilot had to call upon the flight attendants to ensure the safety of all passengers on board. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported and the plane continued on its scheduled flight to Atlanta.

In a statement to CNN, Frontier Airlines acknowledged the incident and thanked their crew for their “vigilance and professionalism. ” This close call comes just a few weeks after a fatal incident at New York’s LaGuardia airport, where an Air Canada Express regional jet collided with a fire truck while landing, resulting in the deaths of two pilots and injuries to several others. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is currently investigating the cause of that incident.

The FAA is conducting a thorough investigation to determine the cause of this near collision at LAX. As of now, there have been no updates on the status of the investigation. The-CNN-Wire ™ & © 2026 Cable News Network, Inc., a Warner Bros. Discovery Company. All rights reserved.
