Edinburgh Airport Sets New Record with Close to 17 Million Passengers in 2025

In 2025, Edinburgh Airport proudly welcomed close to 17 million passengers, marking a new milestone for the Scottish airport. This impressive achievement is part of VINCI Airports’ global network of airports.

The record-breaking number of passengers can be attributed to the addition of several new routes in 2025. JetBlue introduced a new summer service to Boston, while American Airlines resumed its summer service to Philadelphia. Air Canada also launched a new route to Montréal, and Hainan Airlines inaugurated a year-round route to Beijing. Additionally, 10 new easyJet routes were also introduced in 2025.

Looking ahead, Edinburgh Airport has already announced new routes and airlines for 2026. American Airlines will be adding New York to its destinations and extending its Philadelphia service into the winter season. Luxair will also be entering the Scottish market with its seasonal route to Luxembourg.

Gordon Dewar, the chief executive of Edinburgh Airport, expressed his excitement about the airport’s success in the past year. He noted that the increasing demand for travel and tourism to and from Scotland has contributed to the airport’s growth. The addition of new routes, both European and transatlantic, has also strengthened the airport’s connectivity.

Dewar emphasized the airport’s focus on providing its passengers with more choices and continuously investing in the airport to enhance the overall experience. With its strategic plans in place, Edinburgh Airport is confident in its ability to continue to thrive in the coming years.
