Delta Launches New Nonstop Service from New York to Catania
Delta Airlines is excited to announce their newest daily nonstop service from New York-JFK to Catania, Sicily, starting on May 21, 2025. This marks the airline’s first-ever flight to the Italian island and the only direct connection between Catania and the United States.
The addition of this new route provides customers with easier access to one of Italy’s most captivating destinations. Catania, located on the eastern coast of Sicily, boasts a rich history, vibrant culture, and breathtaking natural beauty. From its bustling markets and stunning baroque architecture to its sun-kissed coastline and renowned cuisine, Catania offers a unique experience for every type of traveler.
Nearby must-see destinations include Taormina, home to a magnificent ancient Greek theater situated between Mount Etna and the Mediterranean Sea, the historic center of Siracusa, and the baroque splendor of Noto.
Matteo Curcio, Delta’s Senior Vice President for Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and India, expressed the airline’s excitement for this new route, stating, “Catania will be the fifth Italian city served by Delta from the U. S. , along with Rome, Milan, Venice, and Naples. Sicily is a highly sought-after destination, and many Italian Americans have strong ties to this wonderful region. We believe this service will not only benefit the region’s economy through increased tourism but also provide great connectivity to the U. S. for Sicilians.
In addition to connecting Sicily to New York, this new route also offers convenient onward travel to over 50 destinations across North America through Delta’s hub at JFK. From Los Angeles to Miami, Chicago to Las Vegas, Delta makes it easier than ever to explore the U. S. from the heart of Sicily.
The flight will be operated by a 216-seat Boeing 767-300, offering a range of onboard experiences to cater to every traveler’s needs. As part of their expanded partnership with Italian fashion house Missoni, Delta will introduce a new Delta One collection featuring exclusive bedding and a refreshed amenity kit. Passengers in the Delta One cabin can also enjoy lie-flat seats with premium bedding, a four-course meal curated by a chef, and a selection of Taittinger Champagne, all complemented by Missoni-designed amenities and elegant touches throughout the cabin. Delta Premium Select offers extra space and comfort, while Delta Comfort and Delta Main provide thoughtful service and entertainment for all.
Regardless of the cabin, all passengers can indulge in curated food and beverage options and access over 1,000 hours of entertainment through Delta Studio. And thanks to Delta’s commitment to innovation, travelers on transatlantic flights, including the new Catania route, can stay connected with fast, free Wi-Fi powered by T-Mobile.
Passengers in the Delta One cabin will also have access to the award-winning Delta One Lounge at JFK.
