China Airlines to Launch Operations at New Terminal One in New York JFK Airport
Taiwan-based China Airlines (CAL) has announced its plans to begin operations at The New Terminal One in New York John F. Kennedy International Airport in the coming year. This move highlights the airline’s focus on the North American market and marks a significant milestone in the development of their New York route.
With over 50 years of experience in the North American market, China Airlines has been operating the Taoyuan – New York route since 1983. As a key hub in the carrier’s long-term strategy, this route has been serving travelers for more than 40 years. The New Terminal One at JFK is currently being constructed and is set to offer a fresh new service experience with its integration of innovative technology and world-class design. From check-ins to security screenings to departures and transits, everything is designed to provide travelers with greater convenience and less stress. The terminal will also feature a variety of shopping and dining options that showcase the rich local cultural heritage of New York, making extended waits more enjoyable.
In addition to its state-of-the-art facilities, the new terminal is also committed to sustainability. It will feature the largest solar panel system of any US airport terminal, 100% electric-powered ground service equipment (eGSE), and rainwater capture for landscape irrigation. These sustainability efforts align perfectly with China Airlines’ long-standing philosophy and promotion of sustainable development. By announcing its intention to become a tenant early on, the airline is staying true to its philosophy of providing a seamless and enjoyable flying experience.
China Airlines is confident in the demand for travel between Taiwan and the US, as well as transit travelers. The airline has been actively expanding its network, now offering flights to six major cities in the United States, including New York, Los Angeles, Ontario, San Francisco, Seattle, and Vancouver, Canada. With over 40 round-trip flights per week to and from the US and Canada, China Airlines also offers seamless connections to nearly 500 return flights per week for transit travelers traveling to and from Southeast Asia and Northeast Asia. This extensive network further strengthens the airline’s commitment and strategy for global operations.
