JFK Airport, NY — Newly surfaced allegations from a source identifying as a whistleblower suggest that the corruption case tied to Delta Cargo operations at JFK may extend beyond the charges already filed by federal prosecutors.

As previously reported, prosecutors unsealed indictments describing a bribery and money-laundering scheme involving cargo vendors and a Delta employee accused of exerting influence over contracts at the airline’s JFK operations.

Now, the whistleblower claims that the individual at the center of the case, Mike Rizzo, may have been connected to additional contracting schemes that allegedly reached into other industries tied to airport operations.

According to the source, Rizzo was previously involved in garbage and carting contract arrangements at JFK, allegedly leveraging connections linked to his family’s past ownership of a prominent carting company. The whistleblower claims those ties intersected with long-standing networks within New York’s historically mafia-influenced private sanitation industry.

Among the allegations described by the source:

  • Fraudulent billing for services that were allegedly never performed.
  • Inflated charges tied to charity golf outings organized in connection with Delta events, where contractors were allegedly overbilled while kickbacks were quietly funneled back through intermediaries.
  • A reported relationship between Rizzo and the president of a prominent North Shore golf course, who also serves as president of one of New York’s largest private garbage collection companies.

The whistleblower further alleges that high-level Delta accounting personnel, operating between New York and Delray Beach, Florida, may have helped pressure contractors for payments while simultaneously structuring financial records in ways that obscured the participation of individuals involved.

None of these new allegations have been formally charged in court.

However, if substantiated, the claims would suggest that the misconduct described in the current indictment may represent only one component of a broader pattern of contracting manipulation tied to airport operations and related service industries.

Delta Air Lines has not been accused of wrongdoing in connection with these additional allegations.

The whistleblower states that documentation and financial records supporting the claims are being compiled and may be provided to investigators.

New York Airport News is continuing to review the information and will report additional findings as they are verified.
