Two Binghamton Men Arrested for City Shooting
Two Binghamton men have been charged in connection with a shooting at a residence on Amsbry Street on the North Side. The victim, a 25-year-old man, was shot in the back and arm shortly before 5 a. m. on Thursday. He was taken to Wilson Medical Center for treatment. Police believe the suspects entered the home to rob the occupants, resulting in a struggle and the shooting. James Agron Sr. and Robert Swartz have been arrested and charged with first-degree burglary.
Construction Begins on Former Johnson City High School Apartment Project
After much anticipation, construction has started on the redevelopment of the former Johnson City High School into 58 market-rate apartments. The project, located at 435 Main Street, is expected to bring new life to the century-old building.
New York Airports Receive $25 Million for Safety and Upgrades
Governor Kathy Hochul’s office announced $25 million in funding for airport improvements across the state, including hangar replacements, security upgrades, and the purchase of new snow removal equipment. Greater Binghamton Airport will receive $2. 49 million for hangar rehabilitation.
Groundbreaking for $60 Million Binghamton University Lecture Hall
Construction has begun on a new lecture hall complex at Binghamton University’s main campus in Vestal. The project, which received a $60 million state allocation in 2022, will include three lecture halls, three computer classrooms, and a 100-seat “active learning” classroom.
Delaware County Man Faces Federal Charges for Child Exploitation
A 44-year-old man from Delaware County has been arrested on charges of sexual exploitation of a child. Brent Trimbell is accused of exchanging sexually explicit messages with a female child victim and persuading her to create and send videos of herself engaged in sexually explicit conduct. If convicted, Trimbell could face up to 30 years in prison.
USPS Introduces New “Duck-Billed” Mail Trucks in Binghamton Area
The United States Postal Service has introduced new “Next Generation Delivery Vehicles” in the Binghamton area. The trucks have a dramatically different design, with large windshields and low hoods for improved visibility. They also have air conditioning, a feature that letter carriers have not had in previous vehicles.
New York State Police Seek Stolen Horse Named Koda
New York State Police are asking for the public’s help in finding a stolen horse named Koda.
