BermudAir is embarking on a new phase of growth as it expands its presence in the United States and adds flights to Anguilla, according to CEO Adam Scott in an exclusive interview with AirlineGeeks.

The airline currently serves three airports in the New York area – Westchester County, LaGuardia, and Newark. Scott explained that each airport caters to different demographics and schedules, but they all work together to serve the region.

“We chose Westchester because of its great demographics and strong connection to Bermuda from areas like Greenwich and southern Connecticut,” he said.

LaGuardia provides easy access to Manhattan and offers a morning departure that complements the late afternoon and early evening flights from Westchester. Newark, on the other hand, provides another morning service and a larger catchment area. It is also the base for BermudAir’s new flights to Anguilla.

Scott explained that Newark was the ideal choice for the Anguilla flights because of its customs and immigration handling capabilities. Due to Anguilla’s lack of U. S. preclearance, the options for airports were limited, making Newark the most practical choice.

Introducing Anguilla as a destination for BermudAir was a strategic decision based on seasonal alignment. Scott noted that Bermuda is a highly seasonal market, with demand dropping in the fall, winter, and early spring. On the other hand, the Caribbean, including Anguilla, has a different seasonality, with peak travel occurring during the winter. This new route allows the airline to balance out its capacity and continue its growth throughout the year. Scott also hinted that similar strategies may be used for future market entries.

In addition to Anguilla, BermudAir is also considering new destinations in the U. S. and Canada. Scott revealed that there are at least two attractive markets in Canada, with exceptional performance in the country so far. The airline is also evaluating several large Eastern Seaboard cities and potential central or Midwestern markets. These new destinations will help reduce the seasonality effect for Bermuda by encouraging travel during slower months.

BermudAir recently added two Embraer 190s to its fleet and is working towards a simplified fleet. Scott confirmed that the airline is planning to transition to an all-E190 fleet as soon as possible. He also mentioned that the airline is exploring the possibility of longer-range aircraft for potential transatlantic operations.

“We are definitely interested in expanding our wings and flying east,” Scott said, citing Bermuda’s status as a British Overseas Territory as an advantage.

Despite launching several new markets in 2025, the airline faced some challenges in getting the schedules right. However, Scott remains optimistic about the year ahead, with plans to strengthen existing markets, expand partnerships, launch a frequent-flyer program, improve distribution channels, and enhance ground-handling and freight capabilities in Bermuda.

“We have a long list of priorities that we are working on,” Scott said.
