American Airlines Announces Increased Flights from Chicago Hub to 75 Destinations

American Airlines, one of the major airlines in the United States, has recently announced its plans to boost the number of flights from its Chicago hub to 75 destinations. This move will see a doubling of the number of operations between O’Hare International Airport and Las Vegas, making it easier for travelers to reach popular spring break destinations.

The new flights will be implemented in time for spring break travel, with the number of round trips expanding from three to six in February. These new flight tickets are now available for purchase on American’s website, providing customers with more options and convenience when planning their travels.

According to Steve Johnson, American’s vice chair and chief strategy officer, this expansion is part of the company’s commitment to rebuilding their Chicago hub and making it stronger and more appealing to customers. He also mentioned that 2026 marks the centennial of American and their 100th year of service at ORD, making it an exciting time for growth and investment in the Chicago market.

With the addition of 100 peak daily departures to its spring schedule, American will now offer increased service in 75 markets, including popular spring break destinations like Las Vegas. This brings the total number of peak operations at ORD to over 500 daily departures, solidifying its spot as the third-largest hub in American’s global network and among the top 10 largest hub operations of all major U. S. carriers.

Compared to Las Vegas’ busiest carrier, Southwest Airlines, which has 276 daily operations, American’s expansion in the market is significant. The airline also announced the extension of summer seasonal service from Chicago to Dublin and Paris, offering travelers more options for international travel.

In the first 11 months of 2025, American has served 4 million passengers to and from Las Vegas, highlighting the popularity of this destination for travelers. Aside from Las Vegas, American also offers nonstop flights to and from other major cities like Dallas-Fort Worth, Los Angeles, Miami, Philadelphia, Phoenix, New York’s Kennedy International Airport, Washington’s Ronald Reagan National Airport, and Charlotte, North Carolina.

This expansion is just one of the many ways American Airlines is investing in the Chicago market and improving the travel experience for its customers. With a focus on growth and providing more premium options for travelers, American is committed to serving the Chicagoland communities and contributing to the city’s economy.
