American Airlines has announced the launch of a new daily flight to Athens, Greece from Dallas-Fort Worth starting on May 21, 2026. This will mark the airline’s fifth daily flight to Athens, further expanding its presence in Greece. This news comes after American Airlines inaugurated a new route connecting Athens with Charlotte in 2025, which will also continue next year along with flights to Chicago, New York, and Philadelphia.
According to José A. Freig, Vice President of International and Inflight Dining Operations, there has been a growing demand for flights to cities with rich cultural identities. He stated that more and more customers are seeking out destinations where they can immerse themselves in history and culture like never before. With this new route, passengers in Athens will also have access to American Airlines’ largest hub in the United States, Dallas-Fort Worth, which offers connections to over 225 destinations within the U. S. and beyond.
Ioanna Papadopoulou, Director of Communications & Marketing at Athens International Airport, also commented on the new route, stating that it is an excellent development for the connection between Athens and the American market. This new route will provide even more opportunities for travelers to explore the Greek capital and its rich culture.
American Airlines continues to expand its global reach, providing more options for travelers to discover new destinations and experience different cultures. With the addition of this new route to Athens, the airline is further solidifying its commitment to connecting people and cultures from around the world.
