Alaska Airlines is taking its onboard meal program to new heights this summer with the launch of a fresh lineup of seasonal dishes and an enhanced First Class dining experience. As the airline continues to expand its network, adding new nonstop routes like Portland–Houston and San Diego–Phoenix, it is also focusing on providing top-quality cuisine for its passengers.
Introducing Chef’s (tray) Table
Among the exciting developments in Alaska’s summer refresh is the debut of Chef’s (tray) Table, a rotating culinary series created in partnership with renowned West Coast chefs. The first menu is crafted by James Beard Award-winning Chef Brady Ishiwata Williams of Seattle’s Tomo, featuring his signature Japanese American flavors on select transcontinental flights.
Chef Williams shared, “Every dish and ingredient carries a story, and I’m incredibly proud to partner with an airline that champions local business owners like me.
The first Chef’s (tray) Table menu offers three delicious options for First Class passengers flying between Seattle and the East Coast (New York JFK, Newark, and Washington D. C. ). These include Mochi Waffle and Fried Chicken, Klingemann Farms Glazed Short Rib, and Buckwheat Soba with Ahi Tuna Tataki. Passengers can pre-order their desired dish from the menu through Alaska’s app or website 20 hours before departure.
New Summer Menu
Apart from the Chef’s (tray) Table series, Alaska is also revamping its entire summer menu with an emphasis on fresh, regional ingredients and a wider variety of options. In First Class, passengers can now choose from dishes like Sweet Potato Hash Benedict with Sriracha Hollandaise, Green Tea Pancakes with chicken and apple sausage, Lemon Pesto Gnocchi, and Strawberry Burrata Salad.
For Main Cabin passengers, the seasonal refresh includes popular dishes for purchase, such as the Sweet Chili Chicken Wrap and the Best Laid Plants grain bowl, developed in collaboration with Seattle-based Evergreens.
Alaska remains the only U. S. airline to offer fresh First Class meals on flights as short as 670 miles. Passengers in both Premium and Main Cabin can reserve their meals ahead of time through the app, with MVP Gold 100K and Million Miler elites receiving complimentary access.
Signature Fruit & Cheese Platter
Alaska’s signature dish, the Signature Fruit & Cheese Platter, is now available on even more short-haul routes ranging from 670 to 774 miles. This popular dish, which accounts for nearly 40 percent of fresh food sales, includes Brie, Tillamook Sharp Cheddar, and Beecher’s Flagship Handmade Cheese, along with apple slices, grapes, and crackers. A Maeve chocolate truffle from a Pacific Northwest chocolatier is also included.
Joining the Signature Fruit & Cheese Platter is the new Jetsetter’s Jam, a flaky croissant bread filled with cashew butter and strawberry jam, served with fruit and Tillamook cheddar.
