Airbus Achieves Record Deliveries and Orders in 2025

In 2025, Airbus successfully delivered 793 commercial aircraft to 91 customers worldwide and recorded 1,000 new gross orders. This marks a 4% increase from the 766 aircraft delivered in the previous year and puts the manufacturer ahead of its rival, Boeing. Airbus’ strong performance was driven by a near-record month in December, where it delivered 136 aircraft, surpassing its revised goal of 790 deliveries for the year.

Supply Chain Challenges and Revising Delivery Targets

At the beginning of the year, Airbus set a goal of delivering 820 aircraft, a 7% increase from the previous year. This seemed achievable with the inauguration of two new final assembly lines in the US and China, as well as modifications to existing ones to increase production rates. However, due to supply chain issues, such as quality concerns with fuselage panels on the A320 family, this target was revised to 790 in November. Despite these challenges, Airbus was able to exceed its revised goal thanks to a strong December.

Overcoming Obstacles to Achieve Goals

During a media call, Airbus’ outgoing CEO of Commercial Aircraft, Christian Scherer, acknowledged that the company faced challenges with its supply chain and had to adjust its targets. However, he emphasized that safety and quality were non-negotiable and that the company’s response demonstrated its commitment to these values. Scherer also mentioned ongoing issues with engine supplier Pratt & Whitney, which he expects to continue into 2026. The manufacturer is currently in discussions with the supplier to determine engine delivery schedules for the coming years.

Widebody Success and Competition with Boeing

Benoit de Saint-Exupéry, EVP of sales for Commercial Aircraft, highlighted the company’s strong performance in the widebody market, ending the year with a record backlog of 1,124 orders and a record 102 orders for the A330neo. When questioned about competition with Boeing’s successful 787, de Saint-Exupéry stated that competition is welcomed and that Airbus is confident in its products and professionalism.

Record December Deliveries

To achieve its revised goal, Airbus needed to deliver over 100 aircraft in December. It exceeded this target with a near-record 136 deliveries, including 97 from the A320 family alone. This marks the second-highest number of aircraft delivered in a single month, with the record being 138 in December 2019.

Strong Performance of A220

In addition to its success in the widebody market, Airbus also had a strong year for its A220 aircraft. It delivered 17 in December, surpassing its production rate target of 15 per month for the first time. In total, the company delivered 93 A220s in 2025, a 24% increase from the previous year, to major customers such as Delta Air Lines, JetBlue, and Breeze Airways.
