Airbus A380, the world’s largest passenger airliner, was discontinued in 2021 and was replaced by the Airbus A350 as the flagship aircraft of the Airbus fleet. The A350, introduced in 2015, is the newest clean-sheet widebody aircraft in the market, following the Boeing 787 Dreamliner (2011). With its modern design and features, the A350 is considered one of the most comfortable airliners for business class travel.
Currently, the A350 is the second most popular widebody aircraft, after the 787, and its A350-900ULR and upcoming A350-1000ULR models have the longest commercial range in the market. It operates some of the longest nonstop flights, including the longest flight in the world. Here is a breakdown of the business class fares for these long-haul A350 routes.
Business Class Fares Considered
For the purpose of this article, only flights longer than 8,000 miles on average will be considered. The data for these routes is provided by Cirium, an aviation analytics company, and excludes fifth-freedom flights if individual segments are under 8,000 miles. The article also focuses on advertised prices for business class flights on January 21, 2026, exactly one month from the time of writing, to avoid price fluctuations and holiday season pricing.
All fares are converted to US dollars for consistency, although currency fluctuations may affect the converted price. Only outbound flights from the airlines’ operating hubs will be considered for brevity, as inbound business class fares may differ significantly. It is also worth noting that connecting flights can significantly impact the overall fare, even with seemingly minor connections.
Singapore Airlines 8,000+ Mile Business Fares
Singapore Airlines has the most flights over 8,000 miles, including its twin flights to New York-JFK (9,487 miles) and New York-Newark (9,484 miles). These routes are serviced by the airline’s unique fleet of seven purpose-built Airbus A350-900ULRs (Ultra Long Range). Interestingly, these flights only have premium economy and business class seating, with no economy class seats available.
While these two routes have similar distances and serve New York’s two main international airports, the business class fares are significantly different. On January 21, the cost of flying business class to JFK is $4,694, while the fare to Newark is almost double at $8,350. The fare gap remains similar for January 22. The reason for this price difference is unknown.
