United Airlines Resumes Flights Between Newark and Tel Aviv

United Airlines has announced that it will be resuming flights between Newark, New Jersey and Tel Aviv, Israel starting from Thursday, June 5. This announcement comes after the airline had previously suspended all flights to Israel until at least June 12, but has now decided to bring back the service earlier.

Competing with El Al, Arkia, and Delta Airlines, United Airlines will be operating on the high-demand route between Tel Aviv and New York. Before the conflict, United Airlines had a total of 28 weekly flights to Israel, with 14 originating from New York and the rest from various cities across the United States. However, on October 7, 2023, United Airlines suspended all flights to Israel, only to resume them in March 2024 with seven weekly flights. Unfortunately, the service was suspended again the following month after Iran’s attack on Israel. Since then, flights have been sporadically resumed and suspended due to the unstable geopolitical security situation.

The recent missile attack by Houthi rebels in Yemen on Ben Gurion airport on May 4 has prompted many foreign carriers to resume their flights to Israel. These airlines include Delta Airlines, Air France, Wizz Air, Aegean, Air Europa, and Azerbaijan Airlines.

However, some foreign airlines have announced extended cancellations of flights to Israel, such as Lufthansa Group. British Airways, easyJet, and Ryanair have canceled all flights to Tel Aviv until the end of July, while Air Canada has canceled all flights until September 8.

It is a positive sign that United Airlines has decided to resume its flights to Israel, as it signifies the gradual return to normalcy and stability in the region. This decision will not only benefit the airline, but also the passengers who have been eagerly waiting to travel to and from Israel.

Other airlines may also follow suit in the coming weeks as the situation in the region continues to improve. The resumption of flights to Israel by various airlines will also have a positive impact on the tourism and business industries, boosting the economy and promoting international connectivity.

In conclusion, United Airlines’ announcement of the resumption of flights between Newark and Tel Aviv is a promising sign for the future of air travel in the region. As more airlines gradually resume their services, it is hoped that the situation in the region will continue to improve, allowing for a safe and smooth travel experience for all passengers.
