Airports Across America: The Best and Worst for Business Travelers

In today’s fast-paced world, airports have become more than just a place to pass through. They have become impromptu offices for millions of business travelers. With the increasing demand for connectivity, a recent study by Nextiva evaluated 100 U. S. airports to determine which ones best serve the on-the-go professional.

The study considered nine crucial factors, including the availability of free Wi-Fi, dedicated workspaces, private Minute Suites, lounges, shower access, full-service dining options, charging stations, and traveler satisfaction scores. These factors were evaluated using data from the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, each airport’s website, JD Power’s 2024 North America Airport Satisfaction Study, and Skytrax ratings.

Seattle-Tacoma International (SEA) claimed the top spot on the list, thanks to its impressive amenities for business travelers. With free Wi-Fi, a generous spread of charging stations, and four dedicated workspaces, SEA is a seamless workspace for professionals. It also offers ten lounges and two shower facilities for those with long layovers or red-eye flights.

Cincinnati International Airport (CVG) came in second place, offering three designated workspaces and four lounges for a calm and comfortable atmosphere. It also provides free Wi-Fi and ample charging stations throughout the terminal.

New York’s John F. Kennedy International (JFK) secured third place with a staggering 20 lounges, two Minute Suites, and several dedicated workspaces. It also offers four shower facilities and provides free Wi-Fi and device-charging ease.

Other unexpected airports that made it to the top ten include Austin-Bergstrom International, George Bush Intercontinental, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International, Dallas-Fort Worth International, LaGuardia Airport, Indianapolis International, and Los Angeles International. These airports impressed with their workspaces, lounges, and essential tech features.

On the other hand, airports at the bottom of the list, like Asheville Regional Airport and Punta Gorda Airport, have little to offer in terms of business amenities. Boise Air Terminal, the Bill and Hillary Clinton National Airport, Fresno Yosemite International, McGhee Tyson Airport, Phoenix-Mesa Gateway, Portland International Jetport, St. Pete–Clearwater, and Long Beach Airport also fell near the bottom.

The study considered several factors to determine what makes an airport business-ready. These include free Wi-Fi availability, lounge and workspace options, dedicated workspaces like Jabbrboxes and business centers, shower facilities, sit-down restaurants, and charging stations. Overall passenger satisfaction ratings were also considered to ensure a balanced assessment.
