Shannon Airport Welcomes Increased Direct Flights to New York and Chicago

Shannon Airport has received a boost this week with the return of Delta’s increased direct flights to New York-JFK and United Airlines’ non-stop services to Chicago. These additional flights will offer passengers more options and convenience when travelling to the United States.

More Seats Available
Delta’s increase in flights means that they will now offer 52,000 seats to JFK until September 20, which is 5,600 more than last year’s summer schedule. Meanwhile, United Airlines will offer 44,000 seats to Chicago O’Hare International Airport until September 24. This is great news for passengers as it means more seats and availability for travel to these popular destinations.

A Total of Five Daily US Flights
With these additional flights, Shannon Airport now offers a total of five daily non-stop flights to the US during the summer season. These new services are in addition to the year-round flights to Boston and New York-JFK provided by Aer Lingus, and the service to New York-Newark offered by United Airlines. This brings the total number of transatlantic seats available from Shannon Airport during the summer to over 325,000.

Delta’s Commitment to Enhancing Global Presence
The increase in seats on the Shannon to JFK route is a testament to Delta’s dedication to expanding its global presence. The airline is committed to strengthening its network and providing increased connectivity between the US and Europe. The flights will be operated by Delta’s Boeing 767-300ER, which can seat 216 passengers and features four different cabins, including a luxurious Premium Economy and Delta One business class.

Positive Response from Shannon Airport Group CEO
Mary Considine, CEO of The Shannon Airport Group, expressed her delight at the return of these key routes. She also highlighted the continued growth in demand for transatlantic travel and the importance of these flights for Shannon Airport. With a choice of five daily non-stop flights to the US, Shannon Airport is the top choice for travellers heading to America’s East Coast and Midwest.

Convenient Pre-Clearance Facilities
Shannon Airport is the first airport outside of the Americas to offer full US Customs and Border Protection preclearance facilities. This means that passengers are treated as domestic travellers when they arrive in the US, saving them time and hassle. Additionally, with the new Mobile Pre-Clearance app, US-bound passengers can complete part of the process before arriving at the airport, making their travel experience even smoother.

Shannon Airport looks forward to welcoming passengers over the coming months, whether they are travelling for business or leisure. With these additional flights and convenient pre-clearance facilities, Shannon Airport continues to be a top choice for transatlantic travel.
