Shannon Airport Expects Increase in Travelers for June Bank Holiday

This June bank holiday, Shannon Airport is preparing for a significant increase in travelers, with over 60,000 people expected to pass through its gates. This marks a 9% increase from the same period in 2024, and it is driven by a variety of expanded flight services.

Transatlantic and European destinations are popular choices among passengers, with 36 services currently in operation. Delta and United Airlines have recently returned with seasonal flights to New York-JFK and Chicago, adding to the already available transatlantic routes, including Aer Lingus’ daily flight to Boston. This brings the total number of seats available across five transatlantic routes to over 325,000 until September.

Ryanair’s twice-weekly service to Madeira has been a hit, with many passengers eager for a sunny getaway. Other popular destinations include Alicante, Beziers, Faro, Malaga, Naples, and Porto. TUI’s weekly services to Barcelona-Reus, Lanzarote, and Palma de Mallorca have also been in high demand, with holiday packages available from Shannon Airport. The new service to Palma offers an additional 6,800 seats for passengers throughout the summer season.

In addition to outbound travelers, Shannon Airport is also a gateway for inbound tourists looking to explore the west coast of Ireland. With its convenient location and easy connections, the airport provides the perfect starting point for a memorable Irish experience.

Mary Considine, CEO of The Shannon Airport Group, expressed her excitement for the increase in passenger numbers. She also highlighted the airport’s efforts to make travel stress-free and enjoyable for all passengers. From easy parking options, convenient security processes, to a variety of shopping and dining options, Shannon Airport aims to provide a smooth and pleasant experience for all travelers.

Considine also thanked passengers for choosing Shannon Airport and emphasized the airport’s pride in connecting people to the beauty of the west coast of Ireland.

The airport offers five convenient car parks, with walking distances ranging from just 30 seconds to seven minutes from the terminal. Once inside, passengers can enjoy duty-free shopping at the Curated by Shannon section, featuring luxury fragrances, designer sunglasses, and a range of Irish beauty, living, and wellness products.
