Qatar Airways to Purchase 160 Jets from Boeing During Trump’s Visit

In a move that has sparked controversy, Qatar Airways has announced its plans to buy 160 jets from Boeing as President Donald Trump visits the country. The deal was signed by Trump, the Emir of Qatar, and Boeing executives during the president’s second stop on his four-day tour of the region.

Trump’s visit comes at a time when Qatar has offered to gift the president with a $400 million jet, which has raised concerns about conflicts of interest and security risks. Despite bipartisan criticism, Trump has stated that he will accept the gift, citing that it would be “stupid” not to.

Ahead of his visit, Trump defended the expected gift on social media, comparing it to historical gifts such as the Resolute Desk and the Statue of Liberty. He also questioned why the military and taxpayers should pay for a jet when they can receive it for free.

While Trump spends the day in Qatar, the Democratic National Committee plans to fly a banner reading “Qatar-a-Lago” near Trump’s Mar-a-Lago club in Palm Beach.

The president’s business in the Middle East, including Qatar, has been under scrutiny leading up to his visit. The MGX investment fund, backed by the Emirati government, recently invested $2 billion into Binance, which is linked to Trump’s World Liberty Financial crypto project. When asked about the deal, Trump claimed to have no knowledge of it but stated his support
