New Nonstop Flights to Bermuda from New York City Region’s Largest Airports
In an effort to expand its services and provide more convenience to travelers, leisure airline BermudAir has announced new nonstop flights to Bermuda from two of New York City’s main airports, LaGuardia (LGA) and Newark Liberty International (EWR). The Bermuda-based carrier, known for its signature dark and stormy cocktails, will begin flights from Bermuda’s L. F. Wade International Airport (BDA) to EWR on October 26 and to LGA on October 29. Additionally, AnguillAir, a subsidiary of BermudAir, will launch twice-weekly flights from Anguilla’s Clayton J. Lloyd International Airport (AXA) to EWR on December 18.
New Schedule and Aircraft Details
BermudAir will operate twice-weekly flights from BDA to EWR on Thursdays and Sundays, and twice-weekly flights from BDA to LGA on Wednesdays and Saturdays. The airline will utilize a mix of Embraer E175 and E190 aircraft for these routes. As part of this network shift, BermudAir will end its service to Westchester County Airport (HPN) near White Plains, New York, when the EWR and LGA flights begin.
Access to Highly Coveted Airports
It is yet unclear how BermudAir, a smaller airline, was able to secure landing rights at two highly coveted airports, LGA and EWR. These airports are known for their tightly regulated slots and competitive runway timings. When asked for comment, BermudAir declined to disclose the source of these new slots and timings.
Expanding Services Amidst Legal Issues
This expansion comes at a time when BermudAir’s future is under question. In July, Skyport, the operator of BDA, sued the airline for unpaid airport fees amounting to millions of dollars. Despite this, BermudAir’s founder and CEO, Adam Scott, remains positive about the airline’s future and sees this expansion as a significant step forward for the company.
Changes in Network and Strategy
BermudAir was originally launched in 2023 as an all-business class airline connecting Bermuda to North American cities. However, its strategy has since evolved to offer a more traditional, dual-class onboard product. In addition to the changes in the New York-area routes, BermudAir will also end its services to Charleston International Airport (CHS) in South Carolina on October 26 and to Hartford’s Bradley International Airport (BDL) on December 14. It has already stopped its flights to Providence’s Rhode Island T. F. Green International Airport (PVD) in July.
No Loyalty Program
As of now, BermudAir does not have a loyalty program or participate in any existing programs.
