JetBlue Continues to Expand at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport
JetBlue Airlines is expanding its services once again at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport. After announcing its largest-ever schedule from the South Florida airport just months ago, the carrier is now adding more year-round service and increasing frequency on popular routes to meet the high demand.
New and Reinforced Services
The latest announcement includes increased service to Cartagena, Dallas-Fort Worth, and Tampa, as well as making Jacksonville a daily year-round route. These additions further solidify JetBlue’s position as the number one airline at Fort Lauderdale, which it acquired recently. This expansion is part of a larger strategy to reshape the competitive landscape at FLL, as other low-cost carriers are also trying to catch up.
Expanded Service on Four Popular Routes
JetBlue’s newest expansion at Fort Lauderdale is not about flashy one-off launches. Instead, it focuses on strengthening existing routes. Starting from June 11, Cartagena will increase from four weekly flights to daily service. On June 18, Jacksonville International Airport will become a daily year-round route, while both Dallas-Fort Worth and Tampa will increase from once-daily to twice-daily year-round service.

The Importance of Frequency Growth
JetBlue’s focus on increasing frequency on popular routes shows a deeper understanding of the market. This move not only makes the routes more attractive to local travelers but also improves connectivity across the network. It also sends a signal that the airline sees long-term potential in these markets, rather than just seasonal opportunities.
According to Daniel Shurz, JetBlue’s senior vice president of network planning, these additions are a direct response to the strong demand they are seeing in South Florida. He also added, “We are proud to continue investing in Fort Lauderdale with more year-round flying and added frequencies.
JetBlue’s Climb to Number One at FLL
JetBlue’s rise to the number one airline at Fort Lauderdale was not a sudden shift, but a result of gradual growth and strategic decisions. Over the past year, the airline has restored service to Philadelphia and Guayaquil, added new domestic links to Atlanta, Austin, Norfolk, and Tampa, unveiled nine more routes from FLL, and increased service to Orlando and Dallas/Fort Worth.
