Global Airlines Unveils ‘Sky Bar’ on A380 Ahead of Maiden Charter Flight from Scotland
Long-haul startup Global Airlines has revealed the first look at its highly anticipated ‘Sky Bar’ on board its A380 aircraft, as it prepares for its maiden charter flight from Scotland.
The flight, which will depart from Glasgow Airport and land at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York on Thursday, will be operated by Portuguese charter airline Hi Fly. The return leg is scheduled to arrive in Glasgow on Monday.
Following this, Global Airlines will also operate a flight from Manchester Airport to JFK on May 21, with the return leg landing in Manchester on May 25.
According to Global Airlines founder James Asquith, the A380’s ‘Sky Pub’ is a new standout feature of the aircraft. He shared a fresh image of the bar on social networking site LinkedIn, adding that it was “a fun idea that we came up with” and “the best thing about the extra space that the A380 affords you.”
Asquith also mentioned that the airline plans to add more social spaces on board the A380 in the future, but this will take time due to the lengthy certification process for major modifications on aircraft.
Global Airlines’ mission is to bring back the “Golden Age of Travel” by elevating the onboard experience for all passengers, regardless of their cabin class. The airline’s first A380, registered as 9H-GLOBL, was previously operated by China
