Navi Mumbai International Airport Exceeds 100,000 Passengers in First 19 Days of Operation

Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMI), which opened its doors on December 25, 2020, has already seen a significant influx of passengers. According to the airport’s first operating report, NMI handled over 100,000 passengers in just 19 days. With a total cost of $2 billion, the airport has proven to be a popular choice for travelers, with its busiest day being January 12, when it served 7,345 passengers. Currently, NMI is being served by Air India Express, Asaka Air, and IndiGo, connecting the airport to 16 domestic destinations. The top three destinations served during the first 19 days of operations were New Delhi, Goa, and Bengaluru. NMI currently operates from 8 a. m. to 8 p. m. , but starting in February, it will be open 24 hours a day. Managed by Adani Airports Holdings, NMI operates as a twin airport system with Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (BOM).

Shannon Airport Plans €40 Million in Infrastructure Upgrades

In Ireland, Shannon Airport (SNN) has announced plans to invest €40 million ($46 million) in infrastructure projects this year. These projects include a full upgrade of the airport’s immigration and baggage halls, upgraded taxiways, and a thermal wrap of the external arrivals area of the terminal. SNN aims to enhance the overall passenger experience with these upgrades.

Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport Expands Terminal

Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport (ECP) recently broke ground on an 80,000-square-foot expansion of its passenger terminal. The expansion will include three new gates, four additional baggage claim carousels, six airline baggage offices, new concessions space, and expanded passenger seating. The project also involves the relocation and expansion of the airport’s Transportation Security Administration checkpoint. ECP, located in Panama City, is currently served by American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, United Airlines, and Southwest Airlines. With these new additions, the airport hopes to accommodate increased flight frequencies, new routes, and a growing number of passengers.

Geneva Airport Partners with Avolta AG for Food and Beverage Redevelopment

Travel retailer Avolta AG has been awarded a contract by Geneva Airport (GVA) to redevelop and operate 12 food and beverage locations within the airport’s 32,000-square-foot area. As part of the six-year project, Avolta will revamp the airport’s existing F&B footprint, focusing on offering a variety of options, efficient layouts, and contemporary designs while maintaining a strong regional identity. This partnership aims to enhance the overall dining experience for travelers at GVA.
