EVA Airways Expands U. S.

EVA Airways, one of Taiwan’s top international carriers, has announced a new interline partnership with Southwest Airlines to broaden its reach in the U. S. market. This partnership will allow EVA Air passengers to book and fly to over 30 destinations within the United States via four major gateways: Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, and Chicago O’Hare.

Through this partnership, EVA Air passengers will be able to seamlessly connect to other U. S. cities, all while using a single reservation and checking their luggage through to their final destination. Southwest Airlines, currently the largest carrier in the U. S. market in terms of passengers handled, operates a fleet of over 800 aircraft and is known for its extensive network throughout the country.

“We are excited to partner with EVA Airways and provide more choices and new horizons for our customers,” Southwest Airlines shared on their Instagram page.

This new partnership is just one of the many steps EVA Air has taken to expand its presence in the U. S. market. In 2013, the airline joined the Star Alliance and has since teamed up with other members such as Air Canada and United Airlines to offer code sharing services. Outside of the alliance, EVA Air has also collaborated with Alaska Airlines, JetBlue, Hawaiian Airlines, Sun Country Airlines, and WestJet to provide convenient booking services for its customers.

At present, EVA Air operates 89 round trip non-stop Pacific flights per week to various North American destinations including Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, New York, Houston, Chicago, Vancouver, and Toronto. And by October 3rd of this year, the airline will add Dallas to its list of U. S. destinations, bringing its total number of weekly flights to North America to 94.

This news comes on the heels of another major Taiwanese airline, China Airlines (CAL), announcing a similar interline partnership with Southwest Airlines. CAL currently offers non-stop trans-Pacific flights to cities such as Phoenix, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, and Ontario, California, providing travelers with even more options for connecting flights.

With its continuous efforts to expand its network and provide convenient services for its passengers, EVA Airways is solidifying its position as a leading international carrier in Taiwan.
