The airport handles approximately 30 million passengers annually and has undergone a multi-billion-dollar redevelopment in recent years to modernize its facilities. To avoid delays, experts advise travelers to pack lightly, wear slip-on shoes, and remove liquids and electronics in advance. Families with children or those needing assistance should also factor in extra time. TSA recommends arriving at least two hours before domestic flights and three hours for international flights, but current conditions at LaGuardia suggest adding extra buffer time, especially for Terminal B departures.

Travelers can check real-time wait estimates through several channels, including the airport’s website, the MyTSA mobile app, and airline apps. Despite the challenges, flight operations at LaGuardia remained relatively smooth on Tuesday, with only minor gate hold and taxi delays reported.

As the spring travel season ramps up, airports across the country are preparing for higher volumes. LaGuardia has encouraged the use of public transit options to reduce road congestion, and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, which operates the airport, continues to monitor lines closely with TSA.
