British Airways, one of the world’s leading airlines, has taken a significant step in its journey towards digitization by partnering with UK aviation software specialist, MRO-PRO. The airline has selected MRO-PRO’s innovative cloud-based platform to manage the line maintenance of its global third-party customer network.
The MRO-PRO platform will be implemented across British Airways’ entire line maintenance network, allowing engineers to use mobile tablets to capture real-time technical data at the aircraft. This data will be instantly reported to British Airways and its customers, providing greater visibility and faster decision-making.
One of the key features of the MRO-PRO platform is its resource planning module, designed to revolutionize the way line maintenance is scheduled and managed. This module provides British Airways with hour-by-hour forecasting, combining inbound flight data with engineer availability and authorizations. This enables proactive planning and faster allocation decisions. The platform is also integrated with MRO-PRO’s live flight radar tool, ensuring that engineers are in the right place at the right time, aligned with aircraft schedules.
In addition to digital task management, MRO-PRO will also support the coordination of spares, tooling, and logistics, streamlining maintenance operations and improving efficiency. The platform will also handle third-party maintenance invoicing for British Airways, simplifying the billing process, increasing accuracy, and reducing manual administration.
The full implementation of the MRO-PRO platform is expected to be completed by the end of January 2026. British Airways plans to roll out the platform to over 30 international stations, including major hubs such as Miami, New York, Boston, Chicago, Barcelona, Madrid, Sydney, Delhi, Manchester, and London Gatwick.
Scott Wells, founder and managing director of MRO-PRO, expressed his pride in the new partnership with British Airways, stating that it is a significant milestone in the company’s growth ambition. MRO-PRO aims to deliver digital and AI-enhanced solutions to leading airlines, MRO workshops, and maintenance providers worldwide.
He further added, “By combining advanced data tools with real-time insight, MRO-PRO is setting a new standard in digital MRO management. We look forward to a long-standing partnership with British Airways and our other new customers, built on proven innovation, precision, efficiency, and global reach.
Gavin Shearer, Head of Operations – Line Maintenance at British Airways, shared the benefits of implementing MRO-PRO’s platform in their customer line maintenance operation. He highlighted the simplified aircraft workflows, enhanced performance visibility for managers, improved data insights, and smarter work allocation using flight radar feeds to track any aircraft delays and reprioritize tasks. The platform has also improved the customer invoicing process, providing transparent and itemized breakdowns. British Airways has achieved 100% engineer adoption of the system, following a smooth onboarding process and thorough training supported by MRO-PRO.
