Hawaiian Airlines has recently implemented the Sabre passenger service system (PSS), the same system used by Alaska Airlines. This integration milestone is a major step towards providing a seamless and consistent travel experience for guests flying with both airlines, as well as expanding their global network.

The PSS serves as the central reservation technology that connects all the digital tools and programs used by guests and employees, including websites, mobile apps, loyalty programs, airport kiosks, and reservation records.

According to Alaska Air Group CEO Ben Minicucci, this is the first time a U. S. airline has operated multiple brands on a single platform, creating a smoother experience for guests flying with Alaska and Hawaiian around the world. The teams have been working together for over a year to achieve this milestone and unlock the full potential of their combination.

One App for All Your Travels

Starting today, guests can manage their entire journey through a single Alaska Hawaiian mobile app. The app also offers the option to choose either an Alaska Airlines or Hawaiian Airlines theme, providing a more personalized experience. The combined app features better performance, simplified trip management, and a single record locator for travel on either brand. It also offers convenient self-service options, such as canceling or changing a flight, using Apple Pay, adding a lap child on domestic flights, and sharing a boarding pass.

Additionally, guests can now use cash or points to book flights on over 30 airline partners, including oneworld alliance members, through the combined app, on alaskaair. com, or hawaiianairlines. com. Starting in May, they can also pre-order First Class meals on Hawaiian Airlines. Furthermore, TSA Touchless ID is now available for Atmos Rewards members with a known traveler number (KTN) and valid passport, allowing them to access expedited security lines at select airports.

One Flight Code, Two Distinct Brands

Although Alaska and Hawaiian maintain their unique brand experiences, all flights now carry the “AS” code assigned by the International Air Transport Association (IATA). Guests can still clearly select and book Hawaiian Airlines flights, now denoted as Operated by Alaska as Hawaiian Airlines, and enjoy Hawaiian’s authentic ho’okipa (hospitality). Hawaiian’s iconic Pualani logo will continue to be prominently displayed on digital channels and airport signage.

Improved Airport Experience

To simplify the check-in process, Hawaiian and Alaska now welcome guests in shared airport lobbies in major cities such as Las Vegas, Los Angeles, New York-JFK, Phoenix, Portland, Sacramento, San Francisco, San Jose, and Seattle. Additionally, airport signage is being updated to reflect the combined operations, with either Hawaiian or Alaska branding taking prominence depending on the location.

Both airlines have also switched to mobile and web-only check-in, and self-service bag tag kiosks have been installed in lobbies to enhance the airport experience and reduce waste from printed boarding passes.
