Air India’s Chief, Campbell Wilson, expressed his excitement for the changes happening within the airline as he inaugurated their new lounge at Delhi airport. The Tata Group-owned carrier is set to open more lounges in cities like San Francisco and New York as well.
The newly opened Maharaja Lounge at the Delhi airport covers an area of 16,000 square feet and can accommodate up to 300 guests in its ‘Business’ and ‘First Class’ sections. In a brief interaction with PTI, Wilson stated that 2026 is the year when the changes will be clearly visible both in the air and on the ground as the airline plans to retrofit its wide-body planes.
Wilson further added that by the end of this year, more than half of the wide-body aircraft will be upgraded to a new standard, with the rest of the fleet to follow in the next 18-24 months. He also mentioned that Air India is striving to provide a consistent world-class experience for its passengers and the new upgrades are just the beginning.
