Late on Sunday night, an Air Canada aircraft collided with a vehicle on a taxiway at LaGuardia Airport, resulting in injuries and the closure of the airport. According to reports, the vehicle involved was a fire truck and four firefighters have been critically injured.
The incident occurred on Runway 4 within Delta’s terminal area at around 11:37 p. m. , as reported by AeroCrewNews and NYCFireWire. The first-due engine company was deployed to the scene along with other FDNY units.
The aircraft involved in the collision was Jazz Airlines Flight 646, operated by Air Canada’s regional carrier Jazz Airlines, as reported by local news site Col Live. The plane had just landed in New York from Montreal, Quebec when it collided with a Port Authority emergency vehicle while attempting to cross runway 04/22.
